Meet The Fence Guy

Sometimes a business starts when you least expect it.

The Fence Guy actually started with my own fence. A neighbor with some fencing experience helped me build it, and along the way I learned quite a bit—and discovered that I actually enjoyed the work.

At the time, I was a UPS delivery driver. One day, a customer asked if I knew anyone who could build a fence. I told him I did, and before long I was building a small fence at one of his rental properties.

I quickly discovered there was a lot I still had to learn. I didn't have all the right tools, and the job threw a few obstacles at me that I simply had to figure out. In a way, that hasn't changed. Every fence presents its own challenges, and finding the right solution is still one of the things I enjoy most about the work.

The customer was pleased with the finished fence. After that, whenever he needed something done, I was simply “his fence guy.”

And that's how The Fence Guy was born.
